Weekend Wrap Up

Went over to my parents house to search through some of their old prints and posters.  In my Dad's poster drawer we found this poster he has held onto since 1969.  Its a print of Aubrey Beardsley art for the cover of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves.  I just loved it so much I knew it had to come home with me.  Its now hanging like a bad ass in my entry hall way matted & framed.

Black & Gold Stripes

I've had this small black table for a while and it just wasn't fitting with where I'm taking my apartment.   So I decided to spice it up!  I got the inspiration from Kristin over at the Hunted Interior.  I taped it off with painters tape and then went to town with the gold spray paint.  It ended up turning out AWESOME!
that is one good looking table!
Since I live in an apartment I had spray painted it on the side walk and left it out for a little to dry.  I didn't know how quick something like this would go on the street... apparently 10 minutes.  I looked out my window and someone was walking away with it.  I had to bang on the window and yell so they would put it down. I immediately ran outside to bring my little guy in.

Is It Summer Yet

is it summer yet

How does everyone feel about high-waist swim suits?  I've been longing for one for about 3 years now and think this will be the year I finally cave. I've never felt completely comfortable in a bikini and think I will be more likely to go out and have fun if I feel comfortable.  A cute one piece never seemed to make sense to me.  I grew up on a competitive swim team from the age of 5-18 which meant one pieces were made for racing and no one wanted a race suit tan line.   If only I felt it was appropriate to spend $200 on a swimsuit, that neon Mara Hoffman laser cut would be waiting for sunshine.

Waiting for 70 degrees (in Seattle that is tanning temp)...

Weekend Wrap Up

I had previously been signed up for birchbox which was great but I kept on getting face cream after face cream which is okay for a little... but I didn't get actual make-up (except a mascara once).

I decided to try Ipsy out.  They did not disappoint for my first bag! Everything I received I would actually use.  I've already been wearing the blush and the lip gloss on a daily basis. The blush and the nail polish were both real sized!  I can't wait to see if they keep up the good work!

I also hit up Nordstroms Rack and picked up a new pair of kicks. It's been two years since I got new running shoes. Since I'm training for my half in August I decided I deserved a new pair.

took them out for a 5mi

Craigslist Gold

Everyday I look around the blogging world for decorating inspiration to get my apartment to where I want it to be.  I had this great bookshelf that had served me for 6+ years but it didn't work in my new apartment.  It was too dark against my bright walls and didn't quite fit any where because of these giant windows (read:awesome problem to have).

before

I have been seeing lots of glass and gold pieces here, here, and here

Since I'm always on a budget it was time to scour Craigslist. Craigslist can be so defeating at times and it really teaches you some patience. This time was not one of those...

I some how stumbled upon this beauty for $40.00!

after hitting the jack pot
So much better!

Everything is starting to feel a little more done, good thing I've only been there for 9 months...

Valentine's Day Treats

I had to work all weekend so that meant I took Friday off.  This year instead of cards or cookies I decided to make marshmallows from scratch!

I looked at a couple different recipes and I ended up trying this one from Deb over at Smitten Kitchen. I had never made them before and this recipe was easy and so so good!

Then I decided to continue to be crafty and visited Sarah over at Sugar House Ink and printed these great bag toppers.

Now I'm ready to hand these out to my friends and impress them with my craftiness!

And then to reward myself for actually making Valentine's sweets for people this is now en route to my door step.

Weekend Wrap Up

Wow what a weekend.  As a Seattleite and an avid sports fan this weekend was just UHHH-mazing. Although I love fashion all my style sense goes out the window on Sundays, August - February and I'm found wearing my Sherman Hawks Jersey.  I think I might have to pick up another jersey before next season... The city was just electric last night.

I also spent some time with my mom volunteering at Brides Against Breast Cancer.  It is a great organization that my mom and I have been involved with on and off for the past 5 years.

This bad boy also showed up in my mail box

On a whim I picked up a Michael Stars dress that was on sale on Piperlime about a month ago.  When it showed up it was the softest fabric and I knew I was hooked.  I've been on a mission to upgrade my sleeping clothes so I'm not in ratty old sorority tees and PJ bottoms.  I scored this robe at 50% off plus another 20% at check out!  I'm so glad I got it, I already see myself in it every morning.
